At the meeting of the Environment Committee on 26 March 2019, the following statement was agreed by the councilors:

"Since climate change is real, caused by human activity, and is an urgent challenge to everyone, Baildon Town Council confirms its earlier policy of supporting the reduction of CO2 emissions."

We, as a council, are always looking for ways of making our day to day practices more environmentally friendly, for example:

We keep printing to a minimum, using electronic means of communication and e mailing documents to councillors. Printing is done double sided to save paper.

All paper waste is sent to Waste Chasers in Shipley to be processed. This is a not-for-profit, workers' co-operative which promotes waste reduction and recycling in West Yorkshire. For more information see their web page here:

All plastic and glass waste from the office is recycled via Bradford Council collections. Single Use Plastic is kept to a minimum.

We use washable cups, plates and cutlery for our events where possible rather than disposable ones.

Members of staff walk to appointments/meetings where possible and if a car journey is necessary then employees will try to car share.

We shop locally for most of our office supplies, reducing delivery journeys and packaging and supporting local businesses.

Baildon Library has collection points to recycle the following:

• used postage stamps
• used batteries

There is also a collection point for Shipley Area School Uniform Bank which collects used and new items of uniform (and other items for school) relating to local schools. Please see this page for further information on what they accept:
