Storytimes and Children's Activities in the Library

Storytimes at Baildon Library

Come along for stories and crafts and fun. There are two sessions a week which run in term-time only;

  • Mondays at 3.45pm for 4-8 year olds
  • Thursdays at 2.30pm for the under 5's

Each session starts with singing and music, a story read by library staff or volunteers and then followed by a craft activity relevant to the story. And it's FREE!

Summer Reading Challenge

The Summer Reading Challenge takes place every year during the summer holidays for 4 to 12 year olds. Children can sign up at their local library, then read six library books of their choice to complete the Challenge. There are exclusive rewards to collect along the way, and it's FREE to take part!

In 2018 the theme was Mischief Makers to celebrate the 80th year of the Beano comic.

This year the children received a fold -up poster (map) with 6 stickers to collect, featuring the Denis, Gnasher and friends. Three of the collector cards are scratch and sniff!

The other incentives to collect are:

  • Bookmark;
  • Colour-in Card Glasses
  • Wristband.

For those that complete, there is an Mischief Makers certificate and Medal in presentation wallet.

Watch this space for information about the challenge in 2019!
