Road Closures Around Baildon

Road Closures Around Baildon

Baildon Town Council have been informed by Danny Jackson, the Countryside and Rights of Way Manager of Bradford Council that the decision was taken yesterday to temporarily close to traffic Glen Road at Baildon and the Ilkley/Keighley Road over Rombalds Moors.

This was considered and approved by the Council's Gold command as a response to continued parking along these roads - presumably for countryside recreation purposes.

A number of car parking areas have already been closed off in order to deter this, but it was not possible to do the same along the whole length of Glen Rd and Ilkley Rd - so the only option was to close them.

Bradford Council are hopeful that this will reinforce the Government guidance about social distancing, exercising from home, not making unnecessary car journeys and above all, staying safe.

The details are: Glen Road and associated parking areas is closed from its junction with Lucy Hall Drive to its junction with Bingley Road at the Eldwick end. Access has been maintained for residents of Crook Farm Caravan Park. The Ilkley/Keighley Road over Rombalds Moor has been closed from its junction with Silsden Road at the Riddlesden end to its junction with Wells Rd in Ilkley.

The Moor and the Glen remain open to walkers, cyclists and horse riders, however the roads will be closed to vehicles until further notice.
