Baildon Welcomes the World - UCI World Cycling Championships
BAILDON WELCOMES THE WORLD
On Saturday 28th September 2019 over 100 of the top female cyclists in the world will take part in the UCI Women's Elite Road Race. The race will come through Baildon, along the Otley Road, at about 11.30 that day . As with the Tour de Yorkshire, activities are planned to welcome the race, and this year we are delighted that Greene King Brewery have agreed to sponsor a big screen in the car park at the Halfway House, so that you and your family can enjoy watching the race as it continues on to Harrogate. There will be a full range of food and drink options there, including the WI tea tent and choirs and refreshments at St James Church across the road - all welcome!
As part of this project, we are supporting a Baildon resident, artist and cyclist, Tim Curtis, who is involving children from every school in Baildon to produce a gigantic animated bicycle on the field outside Hollins Hall Hotel. This will be a Baildon "land-art" entry, and we hope will be televised to millions around the world!
How can you help?
Please come with family and/or friends and enjoy a fantastic 3 course meal at the Hollins Hall Hotel on Friday 13th September as part of our Fundraising Dinner!
Tickets are £25 each, available from the Halfway House or Baildon Town Council office (in the back of Baildon Library), until 5pm on Friday 6th September. It will be a great evening and you will be helping to raise part of the £3500 needed to fund the land-art.
Contact the Town Council office on 01274 593169 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more info.
