Are you interested in learning about and preserving the heritage of Baildon?

What do we do?

We are a relatively new organisation in Baildon. Our aims are:

  • To identify protect and preserve the historical buildings and spaces of Baildon,
  • To create a blue plaque trail of historical people and places,
  • Hold bimonthly talks on local history,
  • Provide displays for Baildon Library about Civic & Historical topics,
  • Organise Baildon's annual celebration of Yorkshire Day and other events.

We would welcome:

  • Trustees to help run the Society – 6 meetings per year - 2 hours on a Saturday morning,
  • An independent Examiner of our accounts – about 4 hours in January each year,
  • People with an interest in historical buildings to help with heritage listing of unprotected buildings,
  • Ushers/stewards/helpers to assist with events such as:
    • Regular talks at Baildon Golf Club (Monday evenings at 7.30 pm to 9.30pm, six times per annum),
    • Our stall at Baildon Carnival in July,
    • Yorkshire Day celebrations on and around the 1st August annually,
    • Our Yorkshire Day Ceilidh.
