Baildon Civic and Historical Society

Are you interested in learning about and preserving the heritage of Baildon?
What do we do?
We are a relatively new organisation in Baildon. Our aims are:
- To identify protect and preserve the historical buildings and spaces of Baildon,
- To create a blue plaque trail of historical people and places,
- Hold bimonthly talks on local history,
- Provide displays for Baildon Library about Civic & Historical topics,
- Organise Baildon's annual celebration of Yorkshire Day and other events.
We would welcome:
- Trustees to help run the Society – 6 meetings per year - 2 hours on a Saturday morning,
- An independent Examiner of our accounts – about 4 hours in January each year,
- People with an interest in historical buildings to help with heritage listing of unprotected buildings,
- Ushers/stewards/helpers to assist with events such as:
- Regular talks at Baildon Golf Club (Monday evenings at 7.30 pm to 9.30pm, six times per annum),
- Our stall at Baildon Carnival in July,
- Yorkshire Day celebrations on and around the 1st August annually,
- Our Yorkshire Day Ceilidh.
