Baildon Carnival
Baildon Carnival takes place every year on the 2nd Saturday in July

Volunteers on the day
Baildon Carnival are looking for people to volunteer on the day of the Carnival as:
- Road Closure Marshalls
- Field Marshalls
- or to help with a variety of one-off tasks (putting up gazebos, setting up seating areas etc)
You would need to be available for a couple of hours, at the start of the day, or the end of the day (or somewhere in between!), or for the whole day if you prefer.
No particular skills are needed, just a willingness to get involved. We provide a high viz jacket and you will be advised of your road closure position before the event. There is also a named contact person for you to report to on the day. Body cameras and/or walkie talkies will be provided for those willing and able to use them.
Baildon Carnival Committee Members
In order to make sure that everything runs smoothly on the day, there are a range of activities that need coordinating in advance which include:
- Arranging for the roads to be closed for the parade
- Ensuring we have enough Marshalls on the day for the road closures and the carnival fields
- Booking the attractions - the fun fair, the climbing wall, food vendors
- Organising and booking the commercial and charity stalls
Meetings are generally held once a month throughout the year. You can attend all of them or only those that cover your area of interest. In addition, there will be actions arising from the meetings that are delegated to committee members to carry out.

Connor Wilson (18 yrs old) is a volunteer and committee member:
"I enjoy volunteering with the Baildon Carnival association as I believe I am a part of a great team that puts on an enjoyable day for members of my local community.
I believe it is very good for my mental health and I get a sense of enjoyment out of doing it. It has also helped to develop my communication and customer service skills.
I am an active member of our social media team which has helped to strengthen my teamworking and problem solving skills. I have to Identifying and resolve issues that may pop up, whether on the day of the Carnival, or whilst helping to run the Facebook Page."
