
There are several volunteer opportunities available with the Aire Rivers Trust:
Practical Conservation Volunteering
Volunteers carry out practical tasks to help the environment including:
- river clean-ups
- meadow management
- tree planting
- hedge laying
- woodland management
- footpath maintenance.
Riverfly Monitoring
Volunteers assess the health of the river by monitoring the number and variety of bugs in the river. Training is available with volunteers undertaking their counts on a specific patch and a seasonal basis.
Events
Volunteers support the Trust staff team and Trustees to inform the public about the work undertaken by the Trust. This is on a seasonal basis and covers the middle Aire catchment from Greengates to Keighley.
What training do volunteers receive?
All volunteers receive training regarding safe working and there is the opportunity for more specific training such as Riverfly monitoring, First Aid and Safe Working by Water training.
